Hoover Dam

There are lots more photos to come, but of everything in Vegas, Hoover Dam was certainly monumental.  The heat and the dry desert air made the colors and air clarity astounding– stark shadows, bright outlines, incredible brightness and sky. I’m also a huge fan (along with the BH) of Art Deco architectural elements, of which there were just too many to count. It was really a Wonder.

  4. I love the artistry that went into building this massive piece of machinery! The deco style lettering, the monuments the sheer precision and quality that is so apparent was captured beautifully in your photos. Thank you for sharing, it makes me want to see it in person!

  6. Great shots — I haven’t been to Hoover Dam since I was a kid, and I don’t think I understood at the time what a monumental achievement it was. All of those art deco details are lovely…
